As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the development of new sealing materials and the optimization of existing materials. Close cooperation and continuous interdisciplinary exchange with colleagues in innovation and development projects will be key factors for your success. Keeping abreast of current technological developments, you will have the ability to identify relevant trends and innovations, and apply them to "your" developments. The use of modern materials, unconventional material combinations, novel adhesion systems, innovative surface coatings, concepts and ideas for the design of sealing components for new business areas, material analysis and component testing and more - you know what is important.
You will also accompany "your" products beyond the concept phase, support the production of prototypes, and be occasionally present at the international locations when they are transferred to serial production. Your internal and external customers will appreciate you as a competent expert for all questions concerning the topic of "material" and surface technology. You will be the point of contact to provide support to the quality management in case of damage, the production departments in the implementation of new technologies and our sales and marketing departments in the generation of new business.
In order to achieve your ambitious goals, you will establish close and lasting customer contacts, and initiate and supervise cooperation with universities and research institutes. You will foster good relationships with raw material suppliers, while observing the market and the competition. You will be required to document your work in project reports, protect your inventions by patents, and publish your research results in specialist publications, or in the form of presentations at conferences. This job is not a passive role in a quiet back office, but a versatile, technologically demanding design task, in which you are required as a constructive team-player, and a driver of innovation.
You have successfully completed a degree in chemistry. In doing so, you have deepened your knowledge in the technology of materials, especially in the field of elastomers and thermoplastics. Knowledge in surface and interfacial chemistry, measurement and test technology, as well as the application of materials analysis methods, round off your profile. You work quickly in complex tasks, are characterized by an analytical way of thinking, and like to work in a team. In addition to experience in project management, you have excellent presentation and communication skills. Very good German and English language skills are essential for your success in this role.
